August also marks the beginning of the football season. We witnessed some horrific abuse during and following the European Championship. Our view is whether a player, whatever their background or colour, pulls on an England shirt, they are stating their commitment to England, an England of today. They showed pride and they fid their best and help take England further than it has come since 1966. Colour and background does not come into it. These players deserve respect whether playing for club or country. Hopefully the forthcoming season will see the fans that show them respect, far, far outnumbering the few which disrespect those that represent our country.
