Who We Are
Launched on St.George's Day 2020, Cultural England, was formed to help protect and promote England’s social history and celebrations. Whilst there are organisations such as the National Trust and English Heritage which do a wonderful job in preserving our historic buildings, there has lacked a body which protects the social thread of England through its social history and celebrations. Cultural England intends to fill that gap.
Inclusiveness
Cultural England is an inclusive organisation. We strongly believe the celebrations we promote should be inclusive celebrated by all, irrespective of race, creed or colour.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple, to preserve England’s rich vein of social customs and celebrations of olde, for the enjoyment of all today and tomorrow. To do this we aim to build a network of local groups across the country with the purpose of researching both existing and lost celebrations, helping to promote them and revive others. We aim to do this in a way that is celebratory, engaging and inclusive.
New Celebrations
Whilst the main purpose of Cultural England is to protect, promote and revive England’s social customs and celebrations of olde, we recognise things cannot always stand still. England’s social celebrations are evolving, and over recent decades new traditions and celebrations have become the fabric of local communities. Providing they are inclusive, Cultural England welcomes these on our calendar and we will play our part in helping to promote them.
Exclusions
There are certain customs from our past which infringe upon human and animal welfare. These will not be promoted in their original form Cultural England. Instead, where possible, we will try and adapt these and eliminate any form of cruelty or discrimination.
